Spanish tennis star Roberto Bautista Agut feels Rafael Nadal is a Wimbledon favorite as he has stated that the 22-time Grand Slam champion is a favorite in "any tournament he plays."

Nadal, who turned 36 this month, captured a record 22nd Grand Slam title after beating Casper Ruud in the French Open final.

After winning the French Open, Nadal returned to Spain to rest and undergo a treatment for his chronic foot problem.

Nadal's foot responded well to the treatment and he appears to be set to compete at Wimbledon for the first time since 2019.

"Rafa is always a candidate (for the title) in any tournament he plays," Bautista Agut told EFE.

Bautista Agut: Nadal has exceeded the normal limits

In 2005, Nadal was diagnosed with the Muller-Weiss syndrome.

17 years later, Nadal is still a dominant force in the game and winning Grand Slams.

"He is a player who has exceeded the normal limits. Perhaps he is the one with the greatest ability to sacrifice to get through difficult times," Bautista Agut added.

On Friday, Nadal gathered reporters for a press conference in Mallorca.

There, Nadal shared some good news as he confirmed that his foot responded well to the treatment.

Also, Nadal revealed his plans to play two matches at the Hurlingham exhibition leading up to Wimbledon.

“I experienced some improvements, different feelings on my foot, honestly. I take that like a positive thing,” Nadal said at the Mallorca Country Club. “My intention is to travel to London next Monday, play two matches there before the tournament starts and just follow my normal schedule to prepare the best way possible [for] Wimbledon. Today, that’s all I can say. I’m positive about that.”

Nadal is a two-time Wimbledon champion as he made it all the way at The Championships in 2008 and 2010.

It remains to be seen how far can Nadal go at Wimbledon this year.
