The PGA announced this Wednesday a notable increase in the prize money of eight Tour tournaments, several of them almost doubled compared to this year, according to Commissioner Jay Monahan at a press conference in Cromwell (Connecticut, USA).

In particular, the prizes will go from 20 million dollars distributed in 2022 to 25 million at stake in the 2023 edition of 'The Players'.

It also highlights the increase in prizes for the 'Genesis Invitational', 'Arnold Palmer Invitational', 'WGC' and the 'Memorial Tournament', which will go from 12 to 20 million dollars.

In addition, the 'BMW Championship' will go from 15 to 20 million in prizes and the 'Sentry Tournament of Champions' will reach 15 million, after the 8.2 distributed this year.

This prize increase comes at a time of tension in international golf, after several PGA Tour stars decided to move to LIV Golf.
