World No. 1 Iga Swiatek admitted she was motivated to make a quick work of Croatian qualifier Janna Fett as she didn't want Rafael Nadal to wait for too long.

On Tuesday, Swiatek opened play on the Centre Court at 01:30pm local time.

For 03:30pm local time, the match between Nadal and Francisco Cerundolo was scheduled.

Swiatek needed just over an hour to beat Fett and Nadal started his match in time.

“That’s true," Swiatek answered, per Tennishead. "Let’s make it quick. Basically it’s a huge privilege that I was chosen as the one to open [Centre Court]. It wasn’t obvious because obviously Ash would be opening if she was here. There are many great champions in the draw. I’m pretty happy it was a good match from me and a good performance for sure.”

Swiatek dominated Fett

Swiatek, the first seeded player at The Championships, started her Wimbledon campaign with a 6-0 6-3 victory over Fett.

Going into the match, Swiatek was the absolute favorite but she had no matches on the surface.

On the other side, Fett was well adjusted to the grass, having played three qualifying matches last week.

Still, Swiatek escaped with a pretty routine and dominant victory.

Swiatek got off to a fast start to the match, breaking Fett three times in the first set to bagel the Croatian qualifier.

After easily winning the first set, Swiatek made a slow start to the second set as she got broken in the opening game of the set.

Swiatek broke back Fett in the second game to tie the second set to one game apiece but Fett broke again in the third game to take a 2-1 lead.

At 3-1 in the second set, Fett had three consecutive break points which could have given her a double break over Swiatek.

Swiatek saved those three consecutive break points and Fett never recovered from blowing those chances as the Pole finished the match on a five-game run and booked a second round meeeting versus Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove.
