The PTPA - co-founded by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil - made it clear they are absolutely against wars and violence but also highlighted they do not support discrimination of any player on the ATP or WTA tours.
On Wednesday, Wimbledon confirmed bans for Russian and Belarusian players.
Shortly after the Wimbledon announcement, the LTA announced bans for Russian and Belarusian players from all British events.
The Wimbledon decision means some of the biggest names of the game won't be playing at The All England Club this year.
On the men's side, Andrey Rublev, Daniil Medvedev, Aslan Karatsev and Andrey Karatsev are all set to miss the tournament.
The women's Wimbledon event won't feature Aryna Sabalenka, Victoria Azarenka, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
The PTPA statement on the Wimbledon decision“We strongly denounce the Russian and Belarus invasion of Ukraine. We recognize that we cannot stop the violence but our collective voice can be used to support Ukraine and its citizens who continue to advocate for peace and justice. The PTPA is committed to learning from and protecting our tennis both privately and publicly. We have listened to many individuals who are deeply impacted by this war and thank them for sharing their stories," the PTPA statement read.
“As major competition throughout our sport contemplates banning Russian and Belarusian athletes, we have to reflect and understand that many of them have lost the freedom of their choice and expression due to the laws being enforced by the Russian and Belarus Federations, speaking against Russia or Belarus or denouncing the invasion may result in imprisonment. The PTPA does not discriminate against any tennis player based on nationality but will stand against those who support, express, or commit violence against the innocent."
Medvedev, ranked at No. 2 in the world, is currently recovering from a sports hernia surgery and he hasn't yet addressed the Wimbledon decision.
Rublev, the second-highest ranked Russian tennis players, sounded off on Wimbledon as he accused them of a "complete discrimination" against Russian players.
