Serbian tennis star Dusan Lajovic says playing on front of a home crowd is a special feeling and that's why he is hoping to make a strong run at the Serbia Open in Belgrade.
After a decade, Belgrade returned to the ATP Tour calendar last year.
Belgrade hosted two ATP tournaments last year and Lajovic featured in both events.
Lajovic had a first round bye in Belgrade 1, before he was beaten by Federico Delbonis in the round-of-16.
Lajovic went a step further in Belgrade 2 as he made the quarterfinal before losing to Andrej Martin.
"Playing in front of a home crowd is an indescribable feeling that we can experience in rare situations and therefore it is always a pleasure to play at home. This gives a special charm because we are mostly at tournaments abroad where, despite many of our fans, it is rare to be the majority," Lajovic told the Serbia Open.
Lajovic on if he has any rituals before matches"I mostly try to plan the whole day when I play the match, and just before going out on the court, I like to find a place where I am alone, so that I can focus my thoughts on my game and what awaits me in the match for a few minutes," Lajovic revealed.
Lajovic has been struggling with his consistency this season as he has been mostly picking up early exits at the tournament.
Lajovic kicked off his clay season last week at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he defeated Filip Krajinovic in the first round before losing to Grigor Dimitrov in the round-of-16.
Lajovic is a player capable of playing well on clay as in 2019 he reached his maiden Masters final in Monte Carlo.
Lajovic would certainly love to make a strong result in Belgrade and lift his confidence ahead of the Masters events in Madrid and Rome.
