Former Indian tennis player Prakash Amritraj thinks Novak Djokovic has carefully considered all the pros and cons when it comes to his vaccine stance and he is at peace with his decision.
World No. 1 Djokovic told the BBC that he is still unvaccinated and made it clear he won't take the vaccine just to be able to play in all tournaments.
Djokovic, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, is willing to skip tournaments that require mandatory vaccination.
"Bold. I have seen it, but seeing it again, it just completely hits you," Amritraj said on Tennis Channel, per Sportskeeda.
"Let's just take a step back for a minute here. As an individual, I think we have to be at peace with all of our decisions. When we go to our grave at the end of the day, we are the ones who are going to have to look back on our lives before we go to see our maker. You want to be completely comfortable with all the decisions you're making and have no regrets. And it seems like that's where Novak is."
Djokovic explained his decisionAmritraj admitted he is curious to know why exactly Djokovic is keeping a firm position in his vaccine stance.
During his interview with the BBC, Djokovic suggested that he doesn't know what effect the vaccine would have on his body.
"I am just very curious, is there a reason behind it? Is it a health reason, may be religious? We are not quite sure, but he is very staunch in his beliefs," Amritraj noted.
Djokovic has made it clear that he won't be taking the vaccine just to please the world and do what everyone wants him to do.
"If you start living for other people, you are not going to be able to live with yourself. I think that's what it comes down to." Amritraj said.
