Traditions, as we know, must be respected and Rafael Nadal always respects them. And so, after the twelfth triumph in the Masters 500 in Barcelona, the traditional dip in the Catalan club's swimming pool arrives for the Mallorcan.
Unlike in past editions, however, there are no ball boys in the tournament to bathe with Rafa - as a matter of tricks for the pandemic - but they just watch and applaud him from the outside.
That of 2021 was probably the toughest of the 12 titles won in his Barcelona for Nadal, so much so that he was forced to cancel match points in the final-marathon which saw him opposed to a fantastic Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Nadal eventually won with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 in over 3 hours and 30 of battle. The Spaniard saw two matchpoints canceled in the tenth game of the second set, he saw himself recover in the tie break of the second set and he suffered in the third, before coming to grips with it as a champion.
