Born within a couple of years and with junior Major titles on their tallies, Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios were the players to watch from the down under. Nonetheless, despite some notable results, Bernard and Nick have never shown their full potential, struggling to keep their motivation and focus on tennis. Tomic and Kyrgios were good friends some five years ago before they parted ways when the older Aussie started to lose the ground and ranking positions. Bernard has been ranked outside the top-100 since August 2019, putting many other things ahead of tennis and making the headlines earlier this year thanks to his girlfriend Vanessa Sierra, who didn't like the Melbourne bubble conditions.

Kyrgios blasted them both for such behavior, and he mentioned his countryman in a recent Instagram post, too, saying it is an insult for him when someone compares him with Tomic. Speaking about things they do differently, Nick named his foundation and everything he did to help others. Also, he proudly reminded that he has beaten Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, asking if Tomic did anything similar. To tell the truth, Nick can't say much about his recent results either, for the simple reason he has barely played a couple of matches since the start of the pandemic in March last year. Kyrgios retired in the opening round in Acapulco last year, went home to Australia and stayed there ever since.

The Aussie missed the season restart in August and waited for the new season to return to action. Competing at the ATP 250 event and a Major at home in Melbourne, Kyrgios earned four wins in total and reached the Australian Open third round. Playing on a high level in front of the partisan crowd, Nick won the opening two sets against Dominic Thiem before falling in five sets. As was expected, he decided to skip the entire clay season, planning to return to action in June on grass.

"I've never felt more insulted. I got compared with Bernard Tomic today, and I've never felt more insulted. Does he have a foundation or accomplishments? Did he raise money for the bushfires? It's disgusting, man. Do your research. Also, I ain't f---ing with anyone who does OnlyFans. Oh, and by accomplishments - I beat the big 4," Nick Kyrgios wrote on Instagram.
