The 45th edition of the World TeamTennis should take place between July 12 - August 1, in what promise to be the most exciting three weeks in the history of the famous team event if coronavirus allows the action. The Orlando Storm and the Vegas Rollers joined the competition in 2019, offering a chance for more players to experience the magic of the WTT, with the Chicago Smash ready to hit the courts this summer as the brand new team as well. Staged on the unique multi-colored court, WTT was the first professional sports league that featured mixed athlete teams of men and women, guided by the WTA trailblazer Billie Jean King. On May 9, 1974, WTT became the first regularly scheduled tennis serves coverage on HBO, bringing the names like Andre Agassi, Kevin Anderson, Tracy Austin, Victoria Azarenka, Boris Becker, James Blake, Bjorn Borg, Bob and Mike Bryan, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Pete Sampras, Andy Roddick and many others over the years.

The WTT Playoff is set to return to Orleans Arena at The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on July 31 and August 1, gathering four best teams that will fight for the prestigious title and the record-breaking prize money! The organizers have increased it to a tremendous $5 million, with the added $1 million awarded in WTT Playoffs compensation, including a $500,000 bonus to the team that wins the King Trophy. The organizers are still hoping to kick off the action on the scheduled date, staying in touch with the United States government and health organizations, preparing another update for the beginning of May.

"We continue to monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) carefully as it continues to have a profound impact on the world, including upcoming sporting events like ours. We remain hopeful that the 2020 World TeamTennis season will begin on July 12, as originally scheduled, and it is our hope that we will be bringing marquee team tennis to our nine WTT cities, as well as Las Vegas' Orleans Arena for the WTT Playoffs on August 1-2. Keeping our players, fans, and staff safe is at the forefront of our decision-making. WTT will continue to heed the recommendations by the CDC, WHO and United States government – which includes adhering to our federal government's current stay-at-home order through April 30 – and will post another update no later than the first week of May as new information becomes available."
