While many players have come out to criticize the new format of the Davis Cup, Bernard Giudicelli, the President of the French Tennis Federation, says that the audience must give the new format a chance.

According to Sport24, Giudicelli says, "We have to accept that the old format is over. Another story begins. What struck me most was the cosmopolitan dimension of this event. There is an extraordinary atmosphere. We must let this test grow. I understand the critics. But it's a World cup that starts. Be the witnesses of this event, do not be the judges. Give it time to grow. We do not build anything on nostalgia. The formula has changed. It's a world championship. We must give it time. The new format has just been born. Tennis is a professional sport. The best ones have answered this and they want to come back. It is the most important. It's a reality. This formula changes the codes, even if we have this culture of this competition, we can not impose it on the whole world. The organizers are listening to players and captains. There are adjustments to make. We do not have to give lessons. We just have to congratulate ourselves that the best play this competition. The quarter-final line-up is exceptional. Canada-Australia could have been a final in the previous format.
