Czech tennis star Barbora Strycova has announced her separation from coach David Kotzya after working with him for two years.

The 33-year-old Strycova announced on social media. "We decided to end our cooperation. David and I set goals two years ago. I called it real tennis dreams. And although there is always room to be better, all the great goals I wanted to achieve under David's leadership were successful. For example, this year we headed for Wimbledon and it was the most beautiful tournament in my life. David is one of the best coaches in the Czech Republic, and since my tennis retirement is approaching, I found it a little selfish to keep him at all costs. The ride, it was up and down and it was great."

Strycova experienced her best season in singles this year - reaching the semi-finals in four events - including Wimbledon - her first in a Grand Slam singles event she also won the doubles title at Wimbledon with partner Su-Wei Hseih besides doubles titles at Dubai, Madrid and Birmingham this year.

Strycova also reached the World No.1 ranking in doubles in July to become the seventh Czech woman to become World No. 1 in doubles and the 43rd woman overall to achieve the feat. She ended the season as World No. 1 in doubles.

While Strycova said that her retirement is approaching, she still plans to play the Australian circuit. It is not known who would be her next coach or who would be the next player working with Kotzya, who has earlier coached top players such as Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova.
