Italy's Andreas Seppi, the former World No. 18, says young Italian Jannik Sinner is the future of Italian tennis. Sinner has climbed up the tennis rankings quickly in 2019, jumping to No. 78 in the world rankings after winning the ATP Ortisei Challenger and the ATP NextGen event in Milan.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Seppi says, "I am pleased that there is a continuity of players coming from our area. And Jannik is the future. We haven't trained together many times, the last one was before the Monte Carlo tournament and already there I noticed a great improvement. He is strong, and he can still improve because he has a great desire to grow. He must be allowed to grow and gain experience. That is what he is doing and very quickly. "

Speaking about the friendship between the two and Sinner's strong mental toughness, Seppi says, "Since he went to Bordighera, I couldn't see him, but we often talk, we exchange messages. At the moment it does not seem to me that he gets caught up in pressure. He is a serene and cheerful boy, who learns quickly "

The 35-year-old Seppi is currently ranked No. 72 in the latest ATP rankings, just six spots ahead of the young Sinner. The two players have never met on the tour so far. In his most recent event, Seppi qualified for the ATP Paris Masters and reached the second round of the tournament, going down to Romania's Radu Albot and has a 19-24 record on the tour in 2019.
