There’s plenty of positives to take from RG for Grigor Dimitrov

Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov Dimitrov may have suffered an early exit at the French Open but there’s plenty of positives for him to take from his Roland Garros campaign. 

The former world No. 3 mightily struggled this clay season as, after losing in the Barcelona round-of-16 and then picking up back-to-back first round exits at the Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome, the Bulgarian took a wildcard into the Geneva qualifying. 

The Geneva experiment ended with another early exit as Dimitrov managed to make it past the qualifying event by beating Marc-Andrea Huesler and Thomas Fabbiano respectively before he was beaten in the first round by Federico Delbonis. 

Without any expectations and pressure, Dimitrov earned two tough five-set wins at the French Open over former world No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic and world No. 13 Marin Cilic respectively before losing to Swiss Stan Wawrinka. 

Dimitrov suffered a straight-set loss against Wawrinka but it was all but easy for the Swiss as he clinched a 7-6 (5) 7-6 (4) 7-6 (8) win over the Bulgarian, who failed to convert a set point in the first set and five set points in the third set. 

However, Dimitrov regained a bit of form, rhythm, the confidence that he can play against the best and win matches as he now looks forward to the upcoming grass season.
