Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori and Swiss Stan Wawrinka have signed up to play Tokyo this year, per Michal Samulski.

Nishikori, 29, is set to make his 11th appearance at the Tokyo event.

World No. 7 Nishikori captured his first Tokyo in 2012 after beating Canadian Milos Raonic in the final.

Two years later, the Japanese earned his second Tokyo title as he beat Raonic in a rematch of the 2012 final.

Nishikori fell just short of winning it all in Tokyo last year as he ended runner-up in the final to rising Russian star Daniil Medvedev.

Nishikori will certainly be highly motivated to put on a good week in front of his home fans and claim his third Tokyo title.

On the other side, 34-year-old Wawrinka will be making his sixth appearance in Tokyo this year.

The Swiss' best result at the tournament came in 2015, when he made it all the way after beating French Benoit Paire in the final.

Wawrinka didn't impress in his return to Tokyo as he exited the tournament in the round-of-16 last year.

The Tokyo event is set to be held from September 30 - October 06.
