The Los Cabos Open Tournament Director Jose Antonio Fernandez Celorio commented on the upcoming Mexican tournament that will take place from 29 July to 4 August 2019. Fernandez, speaking to Tennis World USA, was asked if he is satisfied with this year's line up. "Very satisfied. I worked hard for that. The cut off is 107, one year ago it was 117, and two years ago it was 133. It is the best line up we have ever had."

The defending champion Fabio Fognini headlines the field. Juan Martin del Potro, who lost to the Italian in the last year's championship clash, got injured on his knee at Queen's last week and he will pull out. "What happened with del Potro is very sad. We really hope he has a fast recovery and we may have him later on the Tour but our player's field is still very good. We are considering two options to replace del Potro, it's gonna be tough because the line up is pretty done and we have already booked some wild cards for certain players."

On how the Washington Citi Open influences the Los Cabos field, Fernandez added: "It's a very unlucky week for us, Los Cabos, and Kitzbuhel. It's just one of the few weeks where there is an ATP 500 and two 250s. In Washington it's like a Masters 1000, they have four top ten players. Players ask for a higher appearance fee to come here, almost the double. It's more than $100,000 for a single appearance fee."

Rafael Nadal congratulated Los Cabos organizers. Could we see Nadal there one day? "It would be an option in the future. We have a very good relationship with Nadal. He loves Mexico. Mexico loves Nadal. He has played in Acapulco in the last years and there may be a chance to see him in Los Cabos. Los Cabos is an amazing place, we have the best hotel on the Tour, just behind the tournament site. There are many benefits for the players when they come here."
