Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has this evening provided a positive update on his fitness, ahead of the north Londoners’ fast-approaching Champions League final clash with Liverpool.
Tottenham vs Liverpool
The Premier League giants are set to go head-to-head next Saturday, in the 2nd of two all-English European finale showcases.
After Arsenal and Chelsea battle it out in Baku in the final of the Europa League on Wednesday, Spurs and Liverpool will do likewise 3 days later in Madrid, for the biggest prize in club football.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds booked their spot in the Wanda Metropolitano matchup courtesy of a historic second-leg comeback versus Spanish giants Barcelona.
The Merseysiders will head into proceedings aiming to clinch their 6th European crown.
Tottenham, meanwhile, secured their place in the Champions League final by means of a stunning turnaround win of their own, overcoming a 3-goal aggregate deficit at half-time of the tie’s second-leg to eventually advance on away goals.
Unlike Liverpool, though, glory on Saturday night would mark the capital giants’ first European Cup/Champions League title.

‘I feel good’
Ahead of the Metropolitano showcase, Spurs have had a number of injury problems to contend with.
The likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen have all spent time on the sidelines of late.
Kane and Winks are both expected to return to feature versus Liverpool, though, with Jan Vertonghen having this evening also provided a positive update on his recovery:
Jan Vertonghen has told @vtmnieuws that he will be fit for the Champions League final. “I have fully trained with the squad last week. I feel good – super good. I have an history of ankle injuries, but I was only worried for half an hour – just after the Ajax game.” #thfc pic.twitter.com/5eqilZ45kQ

Vertonghen: “The first assessments were positive – and you have to know that our physios are always very cautious. That gave me confidence. Still you have to wait for the scans, but they confirmed the diagnosis. After three days I got rid of the protective boot and the crutches.” pic.twitter.com/qPXfs3x5TM
