Gael Monfils continues to have a great time on the tennis court and has a truly enviable physical condition considering that he is a veteran of the ATP tour. The French ace has achieved quite surprising results in this first segment of 2025, in which he has shown that he can still create problems for opponents decidedly younger than him.
A few days ago, 'La Monf' confessed that his wife Elina Svitolina was fundamental in extending his career because she renewed his stimuli by convincing him to work all the details.
Fans around the world are delighted that Gael is still on the pro tour, being one of the most spectacular players ever and having an innate ability to interact with crowds.
Monfils' confessionMonfils' debut at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 was really brilliant, considering that he beat a very dangerous rival like Fabian Marozsan after a very tough battle (in which he dominated the second and third sets).
Interviewed by 'Eurosport France' after the match, Monfils discussed his current physical shape and made some surprising revelations about his daily routine: "I'm a professional athlete, but I've also enjoyed it throughout my life. One time — when I was about 23 — I played FIFA with my friends late into the night and we ate at McDonald's. The next day I was supposed to practice, but I didn't go and took responsibility for it. I could afford it because I knew the next tournament was in two weeks, I would never have done it if it had been closer.
An intelligent person knows when the time is right to do such a thing. No one runs faster than me on the tennis court, but I happened to eat at McDonald's."
The former world number 6 will try to pull off another feat in Monte Carlo, as his next opponent will be Russian ace Andrey Rublev (who has just started a new partnership with his compatriot Marat Safin).v
