Yesterday, the well-known Serbian media 'Sport Klub' had reported the news that Novak Djokovic would have the former Spanish ace as a coach at the Doha ATP 500 next week. In reality, the words of 'Nando' have been misinterpreted and the news has been denied.

Verdasco - who retired from professional tennis in 2023 and who has always had an excellent relationship with Nole - will indeed be part of the Serbian's team in Doha, but not as a coach as had been anticipated.

The former ATP ace will practice with the 24-time Grand Slam champion during his time in Qatar and help him achieve the best possible form for this prestigious event.

The Spaniard is still in excellent shape and moved to Doha several years ago, becoming a tennis ambassador for the Qatari federation. Verdasco has faced Nole 15 times on the professional tour, obtaining 4 victories against 11 losses.

Nole has resumed practicing

The 37-year-old from Belgrade has not been able to practice much in recent weeks due to the injury to his left thigh suffered during the Australian Open, which turned out to be less serious than expected but which still forced him to rest for some time.

The former world number 1 has worked hard to recover as quickly as possible and be able to participate in this tournament, in which he is one of the main favorites along with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

The Serbian legend will be looking to win his third title in Qatar, having already triumphed in the 2016 and 2017 editions.

In the meantime, it has been announced that the collaboration between Djokovic and Andy Murray - which began at 2025 AO - will continue at least until Wimbledon.

The two legends will meet again in Indian Wells at the beginning of next month and will define the schedule well until the summer.

If he plays at the level he showed at Melbourne Park, Djokovic can seriously think about achieving yet another feat of his career by winning his 25th Major title. Wimbledon certainly represents his greatest chance.
