The defending Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is in Melbourne! Sinner hit the Rod Laver Arena with the 16-year-old Cruz Hewitt, embracing his first practice session at the first Major event of the season.
While Jannik will lead the draw ahead of Alexander Zverev, the younger Hewitt will start the campaign next week after receiving the qualifying wild card. Cruz competed at the junior Australian Open in 2024, hoping to excel his game to a higher level 12 months later.

The Italian conquered men's tennis in 2024, and it all started at the Australian Open. Competing as the 4th seed, Jannik reached the semi-final and faced Novak Djokovic. The young gun ousted the veteran in four sets, facing no break points and reaching his first Major final.

Sinner battled against Daniil Medvedev and dropped the opening two sets. Despite small adds, the Italian never stopped believing! Jannik performed an incredible comeback, taking sets three, four and five and becoming a Major winner at 22!
The rest is history, as the Italian finished the season with a 73-6 mark and eight ATP titles on his tally. Jannik conquered Rotterdam, Miami, Halle, Cincinnati, the US Open, Shanghai and the ATP Finals. He embraced oe of the finest seasons in the previous 15 years.

Also, world no. 1 led Italy toward the Davis Cup Finals title defense in Malaga in November, wrapping up an incredible year and hoping for more in 2025. Sinner will kick off the season at the Australian Open. He will play an exhibition match against Alexei Popyrin in a couple of days.
Jannik will be the top favorite in Melbourne ahead of Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic.
