Rafael Nadal's touching speech to graduates: "How would you like to be remembered?"

"A few months ago I had the opportunity to visit the Dolomites in Italy together with my friend and rival Roger Federer. There in the mountains we had an interesting conversation about a word that I think is very important: heritage. We both agreed on one thing which we believe is of the utmost importance."

Young people need inspiration, which they can take as an example to strengthen their inner being, in order to find their own way in the world. A source of inspiration is Rafael Nadal, who uttered the beautiful words that I reported at the beginning of the article while addressing the recent graduates guests of his Academy. This was part of a conversation he had with his all-time great rival Roger Federer a few weeks ago. Federer and Nadal met off the court and participated in a joint advertising campaign.

Filming took place in the Dolomites where Federer and Nadal posed at an altitude of 3,000 metres. The crux of Nadal's speech is linked to the fact that the Spanish player and the Swiss tennis player agreed in the reasoning that the most important thing is how we will be remembered. Nadal revealed during his speech that there were some important issues at the center of the conversation with Federer

“How would we like to be remembered in a few years' time? What do we want future generations to think of us? We were both very confident in our answers. It's nice that our successes, titles and records are recognized, but, as the years go by, it's likely let someone new come along and do it better. What matters is how we will be remembered. We both want to be remembered as good people. We live in a society that focuses on the what and now, but we would like to highlight the importance of the how. People around you should see you as someone to copy for your values," he told.
