LIV Golf and Google Cloud have announced a multi-year agreement with the technical support of PMY Group, an agency specializing in technology consultancy for the world of sports and entertainment.
This ambitious partnership includes multiple initiatives, but the first tangible result will be launched this summer within the LIV Golf+ application. The innovative feature called “Any shot, Any time” will allow fans to select exactly which players, teams or groups to follow at any time, as well as offer personalized highlights from each LIV tournament round.
Any shot, Any time, resultsFans will have the ability to view up to four windows simultaneously within the application, corresponding to the four members of each team.
Some may recall that in 2021 the PGA Tour had partnered with Amazon Web Services to launch the “Every shot live” app, which allowed you to follow any shot of any player in a tournament live. However, this app was mainly used for the PGA Tour's main event, The Players Championship.
“Any shot, Any time” will be accompanied by additional enhancements in the app, including 3D aerial shots of the courses, detailed real-time statistics, a virtual caddy and a customizable tournament summary.
Matt Renner, president of Google Cloud, commented on the agreement by stating: “LIV Golf has always been at the forefront of innovation in the world of golf and a leader in the adoption of the latest advanced technologies. As a leading technology partner For LIV Golf, we are excited to help create engaging experiences for fans using our advanced Artificial Intelligence solutions and cloud platform."
LIV Golf (/lɪv/ LIV) is a professional golf tour named after the Roman numerals for 54, the score that would be obtained if every hole on a par-72 golf course was played with a birdie and also represents the number of holes to play in LIV tournaments. The first event of the LIV Golf Invitational series began on 9 June 2022 at the Centurion Club near St Albans, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. In 2023, the Invitational Series became the LIV Golf League.
LIV Golf is financed by the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund. Some journalists and commentators have pointed out that the tour is part of the efforts of the Saudi monarchy, criticized for cases of corruption and human rights abuses, to improve its public image through sport.
