Goran Ivanisevic expressed about the wrist injury suffered by Novak Djokovic at the United Cup, in an interview with the Serbian website B9. The coach of the Serbian champion wanted to reassure all the fans of the ATP No.1, who were worried when they noticed Nole's physical condition during the match lost by the Serbian against Alex De Minaur. Less than two weeks before the start of the Australian Open, Djokovic's performance in the United Cup against Minaur was indeed quite alarming. A defeat certainly conditioned by a wrist problem, which the Serbian number one will have to resolve as soon as possible if he wants to defend the title in Melbourne.

"I think Alex played very well, intelligently from a tactical point of view. There is a problem with Novak's wrist, but the most important thing is that he will be ready in 10 or 11 days. We will take a few days of rest and then start training slowly. It is not a big deal. We came here to play a few games and he did. He played three good games. Maybe yesterday wasn't the case, it wasn't a good match from a results point of view, but it was definitely good preparation and that's what he needed," said Ivanisevic.

Nick Kyrgios' point of view on Nole's injury

Shortly after the end of the match, the Australian Nick Kyrgios took to social media to express his considerations on the physical problem felt by the 36-year-old Serbian champion at the United Cup. Nick, still stuck in the pits and will also miss the 2024 edition of the Australian Open , explained: "The change of balls every week has finally arrived on Novak's wrist. The ATP really needs to do something about this. Players suffer all the time. Also, people who think balls aren't a big enough factor for an athlete to get hurt are ignorant. The load on a tennis player's elbow and wrist during this season is enormous."
