It's the last Friday of the season for PGA Tour golfers, busy this week in Georgia for the 2023 RSM Classic. The ranking is short, with over twenty players in just three shots, and a crackling weekend is expected. At the top of the rankings we find the new golf phenomenon, Ludvig Aberg, who thanks to his round of six shots under par takes the lead with -11 at the beginning of the second part of the tournament. The Swede, after turning professional this summer and impressing at the Ryder Cup, is now looking for his first career victory on the American Tour. Meanwhile, Molinari failed to make the cut.

Aberg, results

There is a trio of American golfers chasing the leader a short distance away, with Eric Cole, Danny McCarthy and Sam Ryder in fourth place at -9. On Friday, Cole had an up-and-down rollercoaster of play, with seven birdies and a pair of errors on the second half of the course. McCarthy was consistently good with three birdies, while Ryder closed his fantastic -7 thanks to a birdie-birdie-eagle finish. In these two days, the players alternated on the par 70 and par 72 courses of the Sea Island Golf Club and the Plantation Course on Saint Simons Island, Georgia (USA), but from tomorrow they will play exclusively on the Sea Island Golf Course.

Five players, all Americans, are in fifth place at -9: Matt Kuchar, Tyler Duncan, Peter Kuest, Ben Kohles and Austin Eckroat. In tenth place with a score of -8, there is a group of golfers made up of Canadians and Americans.

Unfortunately there was no luck for Francesco Molinari, who will be forced to skip the next cut. The blue, who played today on the Plantation Course, missed out on the weekend by just one shot, thus stopping in seventy-ninth position with a score of -3. On Friday, the player from Turin alternated moments of highs and lows, eventually closing with -2 (70) and a bogey accompanying almost every birdie. Although he started strong, gaining a stroke on the first hole, he quickly lost it on the third, then made two more birdies on the seventh and tenth, but made another bogey on the eleventh. Finally, he concluded with a birdie on the sixteenth and eighteenth, punctuated by the significant missed shot on the seventeenth. We hope to see Molinari back on the field soon, hoping that he can show his ability again and deserve a prominent place.
