Greg Norman: "LIV will only be able to grow"

The 2023 LIV Golf season officially ended with the Team Championship played on the Blue Monster at Trump National Doral in Miami.

Captain DeChambeau's Team Crushers GC prevailed in the finals bracket, edging out Bubba Watson's Team Range Goats GC by two strokes.

And right on the sidelines of the Miami event, Greg Norman returned to speak to the press, having not made any statements since June 6th, the date of the formalization of the framework agreement between the Tours.

Greg Normam, statements

“Everything indicates that LIV's position has never been stronger and that the success of our players and our brand have never been in a better position”

“And if we shift our focus to 2024, we have a complete calendar”

“We will return to places where we have already been, but we will also have new destinations (for example, the JCB Golf and Country Club, expected to take the place of the Centurion Club on the calendar, NDR), reaching new areas”.

With reference to the new memberships we are talking about, he stated

“I see many players who fear the risk of being cut out”

“I talk to a lot of them all the time who want to join LIV.”

Questions relating to his position were inevitable, about which Norman declared that he had never had any concerns, despite the statements of Ron Price, CEO of the PGA Tour, who clearly spoke of his exclusion during the hearing in the US Senate from the merger plan.

“His position was not correct”

“I didn't pay any attention to it, because every step I took was for the right reasons in favor of the game of golf”

“I didn't need to be involved in the framework agreement, because success is being achieved here”

“This is a journey I'm on, so it's worth it.”

What cannot be denied is that Norman has never given up even a millimeter to his position, and that he has guided LIV Golf with a firm hand, implementing the program of the League supported by the PIF.

Program that seems to be progressing, as we can guess from what was reported by The Telegraph.

Negotiations are reportedly underway, still at an early stage, between LIV and the R&A in order to establish a path that guarantees access to the 152nd Open Championship for the best players of the Saudi League.

It is clearly the response to the OWGR's refusal of accreditation, and we can expect the same action to be taken for the other Majors as well.
