Roger Federer reveals he would like to see Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz representing Team Europe at the 2024 Laver Cup. This past weekend in Vancouver, Team World handed Team Europe a brutal 13-2 loss. "I would like to see Novak again, Alcaraz and Novak on the same team. Sascha Zverev would be great for the German market. Someone like [Holger] Rune, that really hurt Team Europe. Rune and [Stefanos] Tsitsipas pulling out. [Daniil] Medvedev would be great. I like watching [Andrey] Rublev, and maybe someone will come through," Federer told Eurosport.

But now that Federer is retired and Nadal is nearing his own retirement, Team Europe presumably needs new faces and leaders. After Team Europe got badly beaten by Team World, Federer congratulated Team World and also expressed a desire to see Djokovic and Alcaraz at next year's Laver Cup. “They destroyed Team Europe. Team World played fantastic, they really brought the energy. Everybody brought a point, they were stronger in the doubles. In the singles too, they were moving fast, they were ready to go. They thoroughly deserved victory," Federer said. Next year, the Laver Cup will be taking place in Berlin. For the 2024 Laver Cup edition, Federer has great expectations. “We can speak German, very much looking forward to Berlin, a city I don’t know very well. I can’t wait to go there. I think it’s great to take tennis back to Germany. I think we’ll have much better energy as Team Europe," Federer said. Meanwhile, Federer may be retired but he was still present during the whole 2023 Laver Cup edition. In Vancouver, Federer said that he is open to captaining Team Europe at the Laver Cup one day.
