Roger Federer gave advices to Iga Swiatek. "I am a different person"

On Friday Iga Swiatek advanced to the fourth round of the US Open after defeating Kaja Juvan 6:0, 6:1. During the press conference the Polish woman was asked about meeting Roger Federer a few days ago in New York. Swiatek is the ambassador of the clothing brand "On" and Federer is a shareholder of the company.

Swiatek revealed that she talked to Federer and he gave her some advice how to live and approach everything being number one in the world. "Honestly, I have to learn how to find more joy in that. I talked to Roger about that last week" Swiatek said.

The Polish woman admitted that she had heard of situations where Federer could rest and talk to others even 30 minutes before an important match. "I think I can learn something from this. However, I am a slightly different person. I have to stay in my zone and focused” Swiatek added.

"The best way to approach it is really embrace it and be proud of your results. For me, I'm always looking to the future and trying to do the best job, play the best way. I'm glad I have people in my team to remind me of the good work that I'm doing and appreciate the progress. I wouldn't say I'm used to it, but I'm learning how to navigate it." Swiatek said.

Iga Swiatek has been the leader of the WTA ranking for over 70 weeks. She replaced Ashleigh Barty from Australia. In New York she defends the title at the US Open and on Sunday play with Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia.

Roger Federer was the leader of ATP ranking for 310 weeks. After the end of his career he continues to engage in tennis. In New York he met with Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton. At the end of September he will visit Vancouver, where the Laver Cup 2023 tournament will be played. Federer ended his career a year ago in London.
