It is certainly great news for the PGA Tour as well as the players that Tiger Woods has been appointed to the PGA Tour Policy Board. It is likely that Woods' experience and quality will be of tremendous value to the PGA Tour, especially as the PGA Tour appears to be going through a period of crisis at the present time. Tiger Woods showed how important the PGA Tour is to him when he did that, as well as how willing he is to do whatever he can to help the Tour. Phil Mickelson, one of the golfers who left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf, was quick to react to the news upon hearing about it. During a tweet, Mickelson emphasized the importance of this 'awesome' news, saying it is great to see.
"This is great to see," Mickelson tweeted. "Players having equal representation on the board, Tiger getting more involved, and accountability across the board. Awesome news."
Tiger Woods reactsAs soon as Tiger Woods announced his new engagement, he immediately expressed his satisfaction and willingness to help the PGA Tour in any way that he could. Obviously, he understands that the PGA Tour is not in the best of positions, and he feels that everything must be done in order to help the PGA Tour get back on track.
"I am honoured to represent the players of the PGA Tour," Woods said, as quoted by skysports.com
"This is a critical point for the Tour, and the players will do their best to make certain that any changes that are made in Tour operations are in the best interest of all TOUR stakeholders, including fans, sponsors and players.
The players thank Commissioner Monahan for agreeing to address our concerns, and we look forward to being at the table with him to make the right decisions for the future of the game that we all love."
There will be a lot of interest to see how this will impact the future of the PGA Tour in the coming years.
