Nick Kyrgios has urged his fans to be "patient" with his return as he reveals he is working on making a strong comeback and repeating success from the 2022 season. Kyrgios, the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up, has basically missed the entire 2023 season as he has played just one tournament and one match so far this year. After just returning from knee surgery, Kyrgios sustained a wrist ligament injury. With Kyrgios also set to miss the US Open, the general expectation is that Kyrgios will likely skip the entire 2023 season and focus on being fully healthy and ready for the 2024 season.
"To my millions of fans out there, I guess we just have to be patient. Trust me, I still have some fire left in the tank, my body just needs time to recover and get back. I'm still as motivated as ever, in the gym, treatment, recovery. Everything off court is doing great. I am eyeing to come back and have a season like my last again," Kyrgios captioned his Instagram Story.
Kyrgios set to miss all four Grand SlamsKyrgios, a 2022 US Open quarterfinalist, is set to miss this year's Grand Slam event at Flushing Meadows due to a wrist injury. Since Kyrgios won't defend his points from the 2022 US Open, he is set to further drop in the rankings and will be ranked outside the top-350 after the US Open. In his message to fans from earlier this month, Kyrgios said there was no need for them to be concerned about his ranking when he returns.
"Heartbroken about the US Open. I will be back. My wrist is not ready yet to compete. But may I remind people I have a protected ranking of 21 when I choose to be back, lIl be back where I belong," Kyrgios said in a statement posted on his Instagram Story 10 days ago.
