Ons Jabeur jokes she wants to rip off Elena Rybakina's poster from the Wimbledon locker room as the Tunisian is hoping this year she can go a step further and lift her first Grand Slam at The Championships.
Jabeur, 28, made her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon last year.
Jabeur got off to a great start against Rybakina but then the 24-year-old Kazakh stormed back to win in three sets.
After losing the Wimbledon final, Jabeur was visibly dejected and disappointed over missing out on a chance to win the most prestigious tournament in the world.
In her Wimbledon pre-tournament press conference, Jabeur said she is hoping to have fun and do great things at The All England Club this year.
Jabeur jokes she wants to remove Rybakina's Wimbledon poster"It's coming back right now. People mentioning I'm the finalist of last year. It's not great going in the locker room [at Wimbledon] and seeing Elena's picture, but I try to take it off (laughter). It's very nice, having the attention. You did a Grand Slam final. It's not a bad thing. It's something that it's great. Maybe sometimes I didn't see it that way because obviously I wanted to go for the title. But again, a final is a great final, it's a Grand Slam final. I just want to use that experience, use the pressure that I felt last year, to maybe do better this year. But again, my first goal here is to really enjoy playing on grass, maybe recreate greater memories like last year or the year before," Jabeur said.
In the Wimbledon first round, Jabeur starts against Magdalena Frech.
When Jabeur and Frech meet, it will be their second meeting.
In March, Jabeur claimed a three-set win over Frech in Indian Wells.
Going into their Wimbledon meeting, Jabeur is undoubtedly the favorite to win.
