Emma Raducanu has signed up to compete at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters in December. Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, joins a star-studded player field that will be competing at the Macao East Asian Games Dome between December 02-03. In the lone women's singles match, Raducanu will be taking on Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Belinda Bencic. Raducanu will also appear in a mixed doubles match that is scheduled to take place. At the MGM Macau Tennis Masters, Raducanu and Bencic will also be joined by Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Yibing Wu. The tournament organizers plan to also add another male player to the player field. On the men's side of the tournament, there will be a total of four matches.

Raducanu set to compete at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters

Luiz Carvalho, a senior vice-president at sports group IMG, is thrilled about welcoming Raducanu to the MGM Macau Tennis Masters.

“There will be an even greater connection to the local community. Emma’s [Raducanu] Chinese roots and her remarkable rise to stardom by winning the US Open have made her a global sensation, while Wu Yibing’s historic feat as the first Chinese national to win an ATP tournament has significantly elevated his standing in world tennis," Carvalho told the South China Morning Post.

Meanwhile, Raducanu hasn't played since April after undergoing surgeries on both hands and her left ankle.

"It is safe to say the last 10 months have been difficult as I dealt with a recurring injury on a bone of both hands. I tried my best to manage the pain and play through it for most of this year and end of last year by reducing practice load dramatically, missing weeks of training as well as cutting last season short to try [to] heal it. Unfortunately, it’s not enough. I’m having a minor procedure done on both hands to resolve the issues," Raducanu announced in May.

Recently, Raducanu started doing gym work and revealed she plans to return to the practice court in August.
