Roger Federer competed at Wimbledon for the 20th consecutive year in 2018. An eight-time champion played impressive tennis in the opening four rounds, dropping 36 games in 12 sets and sailing into the quarter-final. Roger was particularly impressive against Lukas Lacko in the second round, scoring a 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 win and embracing an incredible streak behind the initial shot. Federer lost nine points in his games and clinched 35 consecutive points, repeating what Nicolas Mahut achieved versus John Isner in that famous Wimbledon 2010 match. The Swiss maestro embraced the streak from 40-30 in the opener's eighth game, delivering one good serve after another and winning every point until the third set's sixth game. Roger produced eight consecutive holds at love and completely dominated with his initial shot to keep the pressure on the other side. Lacko won the point on the return at 15-40 in the opener's eighth game after Federer's forced error.

The Slovak had to wait almost an hour to take the next point in the Swiss' service games, failing to win any in the entire second set. Roger hit the first serve in 25 out of 35 points, although it did not make any difference for him that day. Federer dominated equally on the first and second serve, keeping the points short, attacking from every part of the court and imposing his shots. Lacko failed to return 17 serves and barely had a chance to develop a rally or force an error from Federer in the remaining 18. Roger hit ten winners from the field, finishing 27 out of 35 points on his terms!

Roger Federer grabbed 35 consecutive points on serve at Wimbledon five years ago.

Lacko sprayed eight errors before ending his downfall at 1-4 in the third set. Lukas landed a backhand winner at 0-30 to clinch a point on Roger's serve, hardly remembering the last time he did that! It was another textbook performance on serve from an eight-time Wimbledon champion, finding those sweet spots in the service field and keeping Lukas away from any glimpse of hope while returning. Federer fired a service winner in six of the opening nine points, with seven more coming in the final 13 points of the streak. Also, the Swiss kept the points short, with only two reaching the fifth stroke. We present you the list of 35 consecutive points that Roger won on serve during this record streak:
