Can serena Williams be considered the GOAT of tennis, despite having one less slam than Margaret Smith Court?
Patrick Mouratoglou, former coach of the US tennis legend, spoke out on the matter. He has drawn comparisons between Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams which have led to much criticism of the French coach.
In a tweet before the Roland Garros final between Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud, Mouratoglou stated that Djokovic has a chance to reach the same level as Serena Williams.
And it was at this point that fans of the American tennis player went wild against the French coach.
Many fans reminded the former coach of Serena Williams of Margaret Court's tennis achievements. One user openly stated that Margaret Court is at the top with no room for discussion. Some fans claimed that Steffi Graf, with one title less than Williams, and Margaret Court, were better than the US tennis player.
In short, a simple Tweet that has sparked a lot of controversy on social media.
Novak can tie Serena as the greatest tennis player of all times today.

Serena, the GOATIt's still Margaret Smith Court, if you wanna go down that way (mixing women and men... which is totally wrong). But even based on your assumption on the total of GS won, Maggy still got 24 of them, unfortunately for Serena 😏 Oh... And if wanna come up with the "in open era" BS,… https://t.co/HbzpHNBgPN

Serena, together with her sister Venus, has revolutionized the way of playing tennis and has achieved a series of extraordinary results in the last twenty years. We can say, without any heresy, that while men's tennis has had the Big Three, women's tennis has had Serena Williams, a true ruler in this third millennium.
23 Grand Slam titles, Olympic gold, five times the victory at the Finals, Serena's numbers are impressive as well as the number of tournaments she has during her career, even if now the tennis player has said enough.
Serena and her husband already have a daughter, Olympia, born in 2017. On social media Serena confirmed with a sentence that leaves no doubt: "I was really very excited when Anna Wintour invited the Three of us to the Met Gala." A reference to her husband and her forthcoming child.
In addition to this clue, to leave no doubt, Serena has posted a series of photos and in one of her the sweet expectation is evident and the 41-year-old woman touches her belly with a very happy look. Serena is considered by many to be one of the strongest tennis players of all time, by some the strongest.
Last August, Serena Williams granted an interview to her Vogue colleagues and talked about many topics. Among these the woman spoke like this: "At the beginning of my career I never thought of having children.
There were times when I wondered if it was appropriate to bring children into this world, I didn't feel comfortable with that possibility. But now without telling lies, I have great support regarding my children. My husband tells me I'm very practical, but he has to say that in five years Olympia was only once away from me for 24 hours.
Last year I was injured and picked up my daughter from school every day, I couldn't wait to see her face again."
