A confident Cameron Norrie says he is embracing the expectations that come with being the top-ranked Briton at Wimbledon as he is hoping to spoil Novak Djokovic's plans of making history at The Championships this year.

Norrie, ranked at No 13 in the world, made his first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon last year before losing to Djokovic in four sets.

Considering how well Norrie did at 2022 Wimbledon, there are now even bigger expectations on the 27-year-old Briton to make another deep run at The Championships.

"That's exactly where you want to be, having these expectations and if someone's saying: 'You want to make semi-finals again,' that's exactly what you want people to be saying. You don't want people to be like: 'You're going to go bomb out in the first round again,' so I'll definitely take being on that side of things, and you have to embrace it. There's no shying away from it," Norrie told Sky Sports.

Norrie hopes to end Djokovic's Wimbledon winning streak

Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, hasn't lost a match at The Championships since 2017 as he has won the tournament's last four editions.

This year, Djokovic has a chance to tie Roger Federer's all-time record of eight Wimbledon titles.

Norrie, who is starting his grass season at the Queen's Club this week, is hoping to be at his best when the time comes for Wimbledon.

"It's a good question. To win Wimbledon would be perfect, but you have to take it step-by-step and really focus on Queen's first and trying to bring my best level there. And then I don't want to be playing my best at Queen's, I want to be playing my best for the Grand Slam. So playing my best and giving myself the best chance at Wimbledon would be would be ideal. It's a long, long way to go to win it, but I'm going to try to give myself the best chance," Norrie said.

It remains to be seen if Norrie can become a Grand Slam champion at this year's Wimbledon.
