Carlos Alcaraz has again confirmed that the main reason behind his cramps was the enormous stress and pressure he put on himself before and during the match against Novak Djokovic.
In the French Open semifinal, Alcaraz and Djokovic were tied to one set apiece and the second game of the third set was ongoing.
Then, Alcaraz just stopped after one point and it looked as if he was unable to move.
After receiving a medical intervention, Alcaraz was able to continue and finish the match but Djokovic won 12 of the next 13 games en route to sealing a 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 win.
"I didn't prepare well for the match, for what awaited me. I put too much stress on myself, too much pressure. After the two first sets which were super demanding, if you add the extra tension that I put on me, it happens what happened," Alcaraz told L'Equipe.

After the match was over, Djokovic showed respect for Alcaraz gutting it out and finishing the match.
Also, Djokovic encouraged Alcaraz to keep his head high because there would certainly be many big wins for him in the future.
“I told him that he has got plenty of time and I am sure he is going to win Roland Garros multiple times in the future. I have no doubts about it. I mean, he’s an amazing player who just possesses so many qualities, so dynamic, so much power in his shots. He is a very complete player. And he has already won a Grand Slam. He is the youngest ever number one in the history of the game. So, there is lot to be excited about for him, for the future,” Djokovic said after the match.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz is returning to action at the Queen's Club, where he is opening his grass season.
