Lorenzo Musetti called Roger Federer his idol and his role model. Once again the Italian wanted to reiterate this concept in a recent interview. In the ranks of the Big Three, with the Swiss tennis player there are more points of contact with the Italian tennis player, who however has never faced him on the tennis circuit.

Musetti said in an interview with Clay Tenis: "My dream was to face Federer, but he retired. I played with him in training, but it's not the same thing as putting yourself to the test and taking the field against a legend like that. I think which will be the same with Nadal, I hope I won't face him on clay, because it will be difficult, but they are matches you will never forget."

Up until now, Musetti has only faced Novak Djokovic. The debut against the Serbian tennis player took place at the Roland Garros, with the defeat in the third round. In the next two matches, two victories came for the Grand Slam champion, in Dubai and at the Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy last year.

The Spaniard said that he sees the game of the Swiss in the Italian tennis player. To this comparison, the number two from Italy himself replies: "Yes, it's difficult to compare tennis players. All games are different, but I think my style is quite similar to Roger's. For me, Roger Federer is the most great tennis player of all time. He was an inspiration to me, too bad I never had the chance to face him."

We recall that even Musetti's countryman, Jannik Sinner, said that one of his biggest regrets is not having faced the Swiss Maestro on a tennis court before retiring at the 2022 Laver Cup.
