Carlos Alcaraz wished Rafael Nadal all the best and told his idol he is rooting for him to enjoy a great 2024 season and go out with a bang.
Nadal, who is set to turn 37 in June, announced on Thursday that he is out of the French Open and that he is planning to play the final season of his career in 2024.
Even though Nadal did all he could to recover from a psoas injury in time for the clay season, that didn't happen.
Nadal will be sidelined for the next couple of months and he will also miss Wimbledon.
“Lots of encouragement Rafa! Very painful and sad for everyone that you can't be at Roland Garros or play more this year, but wishing that 2024 will be a great season for you and you can say goodbye as the great champion you are!” Alcaraz tweeted.
Alcaraz rooting for Nadal to go out in styleMuchísimo ánimo Rafa!

The last few years have been extremely difficult for Nadal health-wise.
Nadal is once again in a very tough situation but he has never been a quitter in his life.
Because of that, Nadal wants to try to give himself one final shot and hopefully go out in style.
“What maintains things alive first is (having), enough force to say that I didn’t deserve to finish like that. I had enough force and satisfaction during my career to make things happen by myself, always trying to reach high goals. Sometimes I could make it, sometimes not. To be back, competing at the highest professional level would be a satisfaction to finish the way I intend to. I’m aware that it’s not (like this at) the moment. But I’m also aware on the fact that it’s worth a last effort, it’s my philosophy, I keep it and I will fight for it. If the body responds, I will do things worth a lot of efforts," Nadal said.
