Stefanos Tsitsipas is drawing inspiration from Roger Federer and looking at how the Swiss tennis icon was able to successfully improve his one-handed backhand.
Tsitsipas, 24, has been one of the best players on the Tour for a couple of years now and he is one of the rare top players who play a one-handed backhand.
After realizing that rivals were going after his one-handed backhand, Tsitsipas realized it was time to improve that aspect of his game.
"Everyone will try to attack my backhand. I've worked hard to make it my best weapon on the court but it's not as easy as the two-handed backhand. You have to make the right adjustments to make it solid and powerful. I feel like Roger Federer had a phase in his career where it was a problem against Rafa. He knew how to improve it, he found the solution, he is a legend. I will continue to work on my backhand," Tsitsipas said in Barcelona, per We Are Tennis.

Last week, Tsitsipas made his third Barcelona final.
After losing to Rafael Nadal in his first two Barcelona finals, Tsitsipas was beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in his third Barcelona final.
Alcaraz clinched a 6-3 6-4 win over Tsitsipas and afterward receive praise from the Greek.
"I had the opportunity to see you a few years ago for the very first time when you first got introduced on the ATP Tour and I saw you play a little bit. Some of us guys that were here a little bit earlier than you, I think most of us were fascinated by your tennis. I would like to congratulate you on this amazing build that you’ve been putting in the last few years. It’s very impressive. I think it’s fair enough to say that we see you as an example. Even though we’re slightly older than you, we see your achievements as something that will hopefully push us to do better," Tsitsipas said.
