Lorenzo Musetti opens up on suffering panic attack on court: Tennis is very demanding

Lorenzo Musetti reveals he has been working with a specialist as he is hoping to never again experience a panic attack on the court. 

In October, Musetti suffered a 6-2 6-3 loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Florence semifinal. 

After the match, Musetti revealed that he suffered a panic attack mid-match but didn't want to retire because of the Italian fans who paid a ticket to watch him. 

"Tennis is a very demanding sport and there is enormous pressure. It is not easy to be alone on the court and have to face all the problems. Sometimes that pressure has overwhelmed me, but I am working hard with a specialist so that it doesn't happen again," Musetti told ESPN Argentina.

Musetti didn't want to just walk out of the court

After winning his first two Florence matches in straight sets, Musetti was easily beaten by Auger-Aliassime in their semifinal match.

"I have never suffered from panic attacks, but it is something that you cannot overcome during the match. It takes time to go back to normal. I didn't want to retire because it didn't seem fair to the people who came here to see me," Musetti said in October.

Meanwhile, Musetti is returning to action at this week's Argentina Open in Buenos Aires.

For this February, Musetti decided to go to Latin America and play on clay courts.

This week, 20-year-old Musetti will be making his debut on the clay courts of Buenos Aires.

In the first round, Musetti plays Pedro Cachin.

Musetti kicked off his 2023 season at the inaugural United Cup, where he helped Italy reach the final.

Unfortunately for Musetti and company, they were beaten by the United States in the United Cup final. 

In the United Cup final, Musetti was forced to retire against Frances Tiafoe due to an injury.

It remains to be seen how well can Musetti do this week in Buenos Aires
