"I am disappointed with those South African players who have chosen Liv Golf without even asking me for an opinion. I have had them in my foundation, they have come to my house, I have supported them when they were still very young and helped them in their transition to the PGA Tour ". This is the attack that Ernie Els, former number 1 in the world, addresses to his South African compatriots, from Louis Oosthuizen to Charl Schwartzel, who have left the PGA Tour to move to the Arab Super League.

Ernie Els, statements

"They did all this in an incorrect way, which I certainly didn't like. And I no longer have relations with them", the revelation of "The Big Easy". Which then spares no criticism of the separatist league of the green. "It's not something that can be taken into consideration. And there is no possibility that these tournaments can be recognized in terms of world ranking. These are competitions, moreover in teams, which involve only 48 players".

Theodore Ernest Els, better known as Ernie Els (Johannesburg, South Africa, October 17, 1969), is a South African professional golfer. He has spent 788 weeks in the top 10 of the world golf table, more than any other competitor since its creation in 1986, but was number 1 only nine times, due to the dominance of Tiger Woods during the South African's best years.

Els has won four major tournament victories: the 1994 and 1997 US Open and the 2002 and 2012 British Open, while finishing second at the Augusta Masters and tied third at the PGA Championship.

Likewise, he holds the record for wins in the Match Play World Championship with seven; he won the PGA Golf Grand Slam in 1997 and 2002; won two individual World Series of Golf tournaments; he won the 1996 and 2001 World Cup of Golf and the 1997 and 1998 Alfred Dunhil Cup on behalf of South Africa; and in seven participations in the Presidents Cup for the international team, he won in 1998 and tied in 2003.

Since he turned professional in 1989, Els has amassed 26 European Tour victories, and 18 on the PGA Tour. However, he is characterized by competing on all continents, unlike most golfers of his time.

Els earned the European Tour Order of Merit in 2003 and 2004, finishing second in 2007, third in 2000 and 2002, fourth in 2001 and fifth in 2006. Meanwhile, he was second on the PGA Tour money list in 2004 , third place in 2000 and 2010, and fifth place in 2002.

Apart from his activity as a player, Els runs a golf course design company, a vineyard and a foundation that encourages children from poor families to participate in golf.

In 2012 he was a British Open winner when many thought he would never win a Major again.
