Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu says she can relate to Jessica Pegula's recent situation "on the deepest level possible."

On Friday, Pegula celebrated her 29th birthday.

On the same day, Pegula suffered a 6-1 5-7 6-0 loss to Barbora Krejcikova in the Dubai semifinal.

Hours after the match, Pegula took a selfie while eating a bag of Doritos and waiting to get on her 16-hour flight back home.

"I feel this on the deepest level possible," Andreescu tweeted.

Andreescu knows extremely well the challenges that players face

In 2021 December, Andreescu announced an indefinite break from tennis to address her mental health.

Last April, Andreescu returned to action and kicked off her 2022 season.

In late 2022, Andreescu explained how taking a break to address her mental health helped her to cope better with certain things and situations.

"I definitely feel that I've improved tremendously since last year. I feel like I'm just dealing with everything better, meaning the losses, even the wins, the media. Just being my own independent individual. Outside the court as well, I feel like I'm maturing day by day and gaining so many different experiences and perspectives on a lot, and I'm absorbing things in a healthier way," Andreescu explained.

Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, is also a former world No 4.

Andreescu, now ranked at No 36 in the world, said prior to the 2023 season that her goal was to return to the top-10.

"I definitely don't like seeing myself in the Top 50. I definitely want to get back to that Top 10 spot. But I know that this year I've lost to good players, and they've been pretty close. I wouldn't say that I got swept off the court. Having that experience this year compared to last year against all these top players, I think it's a totally different thing," Andreescu said.

After suffering back-to-back first-round losses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Andreescu will be aiming to do better in Indian Wells and Miami.
