University of North Carolina Asheville hosts Lees-McRae and Chattanooga this weekend

As reported by University of North Carolina at Asheville website, UNC Asheville hosts Lees-McRae and Chattanooga this weekend to open the women's tennis 2023 schedule.

Asheville was picked second in the Big South Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, after advancing to the semifinals of the Big South Conference championships a season ago. They return four All-Conference selections in Rosie Dickson, Ami Grace Dougah, Ari Siegel and Linge Steenkamp.

Lees-McRae enters the matchup 0-2 overall for the year, with losses to Mars Hill (4-2) and Young Harris (4-1) in October, during the fall season.

Chattanooga brings back six letter winners to the team in 2023, along with three newcomers. The Mocs competed at the Austin Peay Fall Invite, Middle Tennessee State Hidden Dual, Georgia Southern Invite, and ITA Ohio Valley Regionals.

The University of North Carolina at Asheville was founded in 1927 as Buncombe County Junior College, part of the Buncombe County public school system. It was the first free public college in the United States. It was located in the Biltmore School in South Asheville on Hendersonville Road. In 2001, the Biltmore School was recognized by the Save America's Treasures program.

UNC Asheville's acceptance rate for Fall 2021 was 82%. At the time, total enrollment was 3,233, with 57% female students and 43% male students. As of fall 2020, students come from 43 states and seventeen countries.
