Former British No 1 Tim Henman definitely believes Jack Draper stands a chance against Rafael Nadal.
Draper, 21, has been drawn to face defending Australian Open champion Nadal in his opener at Melbourne Park.
Draper has enjoyed a good start to the 2023 season, having reached the semifinal at this week's Adelaide International 2.
On the other side, Nadal kicked off his 2023 season at the United Cup.
There, Nadal was up by a set in both of his matches before losing to Caneron Norrie and Alex de Minaur, respectively.
Henman on why Draper stands a chance against Nadal“It's a great opportunity for Jack. Having just sat on a court where Cam Norrie beat Nadal in the United Cup, I think it's fair to say that Nadal is a little bit vulnerable. He hasn't won a lot of matches recently. He lost both his matches at the United Cup. I'm sure he's been working incredibly hard in practice but you want the confirmation on the match court and Jack is obviously playing well in Adelaide this week. I think if you're going to come up against one of the world's very best players, the first round is the time to play [them] so I definitely think it's a case that Jack has nothing to lose and a lot to gain," Henman told Eurosport.
Draper, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No 40 in the world, will be playing against Nadal for the first time when he meets the Spaniard at Melbourne Park.
Also, Draper already knows how it feels to meet a big-time name at the start of a Grand Slam tournament.
In the 2021 Wimbledon first round, Draper won the first set against Novak Djokovic before the Serb stormed back to win in four sets.
Draper has since much improved and it remains to be seen if he can knock out Nadal in the Australian Open first round.
