It was the last big hole in the USGA calendar, it is now filled: the supreme body of American golf announced on Monday that the US Open would take place in 2028 on the West Course of the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck , in New York State.

This will be the 7th time that Winged Foot has hosted a US Open, tied with Baltusrol and three lengths from the Oakmont Country Club which will host its 10th US Open in 2025.
The last contested at Winged Foot, in 2020, had been postponed to September due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was an overpowered Bryson DeChambeau who won.
The now LIV player had been the only player to finish under par six strokes ahead of the competition.
Winged Foot has also hosted, among other high-end competitions, two US Women's Opens, a US Open Senior and two US Amateurs, and even a PGA Championship in 1997.
Its return to the calendar corresponds to the USGA's desire to bring the US Open back to historic sites, with three main courses: Pinehurst, Oakmont and Pebble Beach.
