Nick Kyrgios blasts 'clueless' Pat Rafter

Nick Kyrgios wasn't impressed with the recent comments Australian tennis legend Pat Rafter made about him and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

12 months ago, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis won the Australian Open men's doubles title.

Ahead of this year's Australian Open, former two-time Grand Slam champion Rafter said that Kyrgios and Kokkinakis "upset the players" with their behavior at Melbourne Park 12 mobths ago.

"He would have absolutely zero idea on what the locker room thinks. Me and kokk have great relationships with most of the players on tour. Guy is clueless," Kyrgios wrote on Twitter.

What Rafter exactly said about Kyrgios, Kokkinakis

"It's an interesting one that is, because the players are really upset about it. I don't know how that operates with them and doesn't really bother me either way. It's a bit of a circus. Doubles is a great event, it's a lot of fun, and it helps you with singles, but it's not where it's at. But at the same time, it's entertainment. If they create drama, create ticket sales, and they create people watching, then good on them, but at what expense, I don't know. The players are really upset. Are you supposed to understand the underwritten rule that that's not how you behave when you do," Rafter said on Australian Open's The Happy Slam podcast.

In the second round of the 2022 Australian Open doubles event, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis knocked out top-seeded Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic.

After the match, Kyrgios claimed that the Croatian duo and their coach threatened to fight him.

When Mektic and Pavic were asked about the match, they said that the Australian crowd needed to show more respect.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis initially entered the Australian Open doubles event just wanting to have some fun.

In the end, they had lots of fun and also became Grand Slam champions.

It remains to be seen if Kyrgios and Kokkinakis can defend their Australian Open doubles title this month.
