Eurosport tennis expert and former seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander believes Emma Raducanu has the potential to be a great player but first has to "find her identity as a player."

Raducanu, 20, wrote tennis history when she became the first qualifier in tennis history to win a Grand Slam during the 2021 US Open.

But since then, Raducanu hasn't been impressive with her game and results as the 2021 US Open title remains her lone title.

Also, Raducanu has had several coaching changes over the last year and a half.

Raducanu is now working with Sebastian Sachs as Wilander says finding coaching stability is something she definitely needs.

"It's not going to be a big surprise if she [Raducanu] sort of breaks through again, so to speak, and gets up to sort of the top 10 in the world, and she has a couple of quarter finals. It's not a big surprise because she has the level. She understands tennis. She has the level when she's playing well. She has to solve certain things around her tennis. She's got to solve the coaching situation. She's got to find somebody that she trusts so that she finds her identity as a player," Wilander told Arnold Montgault of Eurosport.

Raducanu's season got off on the wrong way

This week, Raducanu started her 2022 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland.

After beating Linda Fruhvirtova in the first round, Raducanu suffered a blow in her round-of-16 match.

Playing against Viktoria Kuzmova, Raducanu rolled her ankle and was forced to retire the match.

Due to the persistent rain, the organizers moved Raducanu's match to an indoor arena.

After rolling her ankle, Raducanu wasn't happy with playing conditions as she said she wasn't surprised with her injury since the indoor court was "incredibly slick."

Now, some fear Raducanu's Australian Open appearance may be in danger.

Raducanu is set to undergo tests to determine the severity of her ankle injury.
