World No 1 Iga Swiatek was thrilled after securing a key mixed doubles win for Poland and admitted that winning in a team environment feels better than winning individually.

On Wednesday, Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz defeated Italy's Camilla Rosatello and Lorenzo Musetti 6-1 6-2 to secure a United Cup semifinal ticket for Poland.

“Amazing, honestly. I think it’s better winning in a team than individually. I’m so happy that we did it together and team effort for sure paid off. Today’s match was pretty stressful because we (don’t) play mixed doubles usually. But I’m so happy that I was able to play a solid game and Hubi was pushing our opponents and really making it easy for me. So I’m really happy that we played such a nice game," Swiatek said after the match, per Tennis Majors.

Swiatek, Hurkacz delivered big time for Poland

Poland and Italy were tied to two wins apiece after the first four matches of the tie.

It all came down to the mixed doubles match as Swiatek and Hurkacz knew was at stake.

In the first set, Swiatek and Hurkacz claimed three breaks in a row and won six consecutive games to dominantly win the opener.

After easily winning the first set, Swiatek and Hurkacz broke Rosatello and Musetti twice in the second set to complete a two-set win.

In the end, Greece defeated Italy with a 3-2 score in the Brisbane City Final.

“Definitely it was a little bit stressful before the match. It was a very interesting match-up, but it was definitely a lot of fun to play mixed doubles to decide. To win as a team is something special. And having Iga as a partner, the way she hits the ball, it’s just amazing. Definitely the girls carried the team today, so thanks for that," Hurkacz said.

The United Cup semifinals will be taking place in Sydney as Swiatek and Hurkacz will have to overcome the United Cup in Poland's next matchup.
