World No 1 Iga Swiatek has learned her path toward winning the Australian Open.

In the Australian Open first round, Swiatek will be taking on 68th-ranked Jule Niemeier.

Should Swiatek beat Niemeier, she would then likely meet Camila Osorio.

In the third round, Swiatek could face a tricky opponent for the first time as there she is projected to meet 26th-seeded Marie Bouzkova.

Then at the start of the second week, Swiatek would probably play Danielle Collins, the American who made the Australian Open final 12 months ago.

In the quarterfinal, Swiatek is projected to play Cori Gauff, the American she defeated in last year's French Open final.

Then, Swiatek could meet Jessica Pegula for the second time this year.

If Swiatek reaches the final, there could be world No 2 Ons Jabeur waiting for her.

Going into the Australian Open, Swiatek is the top favorite to win the title.

Swiatek lost her last match going into the Australian Open

Swiatek kicked off her 2023 season by representing Poland at the inaugural United Cup.

Swiatek won her first three singles matches at the United Cup but then suffered a 6-2 6-2 loss to Pegula.

After the match was over, Swiatek covered her head with a towel and burst into tears.

“Because I just knew that I felt kind of helpless today, because physically and mentally I wasn’t able to kind of show up even, and problem-solve. So it’s always hard when you lose, especially when you’re kind of playing for the team and your country. So I was just sad. But, you know, it’s not the first time I cried after a lost match. Nothing special," Swiatek said after the match.

For Swiatek, it wasn't easy to deal with such a loss to Pegula.

At the Australian Open, Swiatek could meet Pegula in the semifinal.

If that happens, Swiatek will certainly be looking to make amends for the loss she suffered at the United Cup.
