Jannik Sinner admits that being compared to the great Andre Agassi is "a huge compliment" and noted one of his goals is to further improve his game on grass.
Sinner, 21, arrived to Wimbledon this year without a main draw win on the grass surface.
Sinner, who wasn't really considered among the top favorites for the Wimbledon title, ended up reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinal.
At The All England Club, Sinner defeated Stan Wawrinka, Mikael Ymer, John Isner and Carlos Alcaraz, before blowing a two-set lead in the quarterfinal to Novak Djokovic.
After Wimbledon, Italian tennis legend Corrado Barazzutti said Sinner's game was reminding him of the one Agassi had.
Sinner on being compared to Agassi, his 2022 Wimbledon run"In fact, I had never won a match on that surface and I had very little experience. And still I beat very strong players like Wawrinka, Isner and Alcaraz, before losing in five sets against Djokovic, who would go on to win the tournament for the seventh time. Comparison with Agassi is a huge compliment. I don't set myself limits, my goal is to increase my confidence when playing on the grass even more, the more I know it, the more we can become friends," Sinner told Corriere del Veneto.
Meanwhile, Sinner is preparing to start his 2023 season at the Adelaide International.
Sinner, the 15th-ranked player in the world, is set to debut at an ATP 250 event in Adelaide.
However, Sinner is not unfamiliar with the city of Adelaide.
At the start of the 2021 season, Sinner competed in an exhibition tournament that was taking place in Adelaide.
Back then, Sinner played two exhibition matches against Novak Djokovic and Filip Krajinovic.
Both matches were played in the best-of-one-set format as Sinner picked up back-to-back defeats to Djokovic and Krajinovic.
Now, Sinner is returning to Adelaide as he will be hoping to get some good preparation there ahead of the Australian Open.
