Bernhard Langer broke his own record as the oldest PGA Tour Champions winner with a 66 card on Sunday and a six-stroke victory at the TimberTech Championhip in Florida.

He may be the oldest, the German Bernhard Langer continues his incredible series of successes among seniors! He is just one win away from equaling Hale Irwin's over-50 career success record.

The two-time Masters winner, who beat his age by two strokes on Saturday when he took the lead, needed a birdie on the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club's 18 to play his age or better a seventh time in a tournament.

He settled for a par and card of 66, to win six strokes ahead of Goydos (71) and another former French Open winner, Thongchai Jaidee (67).

Langer now has 44 career victories on the 50-plus circuit, one less than Hale Irwin, who won 45 times between 1995 and 2007. Irwin won his last title at 61.

Langer, who won the Chubb Classic in Florida in February, has 11 victories since turning 60. He has won at least once in his 16 seasons on the senior circuit.

Now 5th in the Charles Schwab Cup, he, on the other hand, said goodbye to his chances of 7th overall victory.

Bernhard Langer (Anhausen (near Augsburg), Germany, August 27, 1957) is a professional golfer. In 2002 he was named to the World Golf Hall of Fame.

He was a very precocious player, being still an amateur already in 1974 he won his first professional tournament, the German National Open Championship. Already turned professional in 1976, he won it again in 1977 and 1979, thirteen times in total. He started his career on the European circuit in 1976, winning for the first time in a European competition in 1980. Along with Severiano Ballesteros he holds the record of having achieved a victory for at least 17 consecutive years. The zenith of his career was reached by winning the Masters twice in 1985 and 1993.

He is also famous for his participation in the Ryder Cup with the European team. He belongs to the golden generation of Europe that got the first victory in the 1985 Ryder Cup together with Severiano Ballesteros, Nick Faldo or Ian Woosnam. He is one of the most prolific players, as he has participated in ten editions as a player, scoring 24 points in 42 games, which places him third in European history behind Sergio GarcĂa and Nick Faldo. One of his best-known episodes is his 1991 duel with Hale Irvin on Kiawah Island, where he missed a 1.5m putt for the win, whereupon he tied with him and dropped a half point. This allowed the US to regain the cup after three unsuccessful campaigns. In 2004 he was the captain of the team that won the Ryder Cup in the US by 18.5 against 9.5 points.

Throughout his career, Langer has battled "yips," a term used for nervous reactions in the hands during the putting stroke. He changed the grip on his putter numerous times to try to fix the problem; when he was at the most successful moment of his career, it was when he felt the problem the most.
