Sergio Garcia faces a fine from the DP World Tour if he fails to provide proof of an emergency or medical issue to justify his withdrawal from the BMW PGA Championship before the start of Day 2.
The player from Castellón made 76 strokes in the first round of the tournament, reduced to 54 holes after the death of Queen Elizabeth II last Thursday.
On Saturday morning, in the United States, television cameras captured Garcia in Austin, Texas, watching a football game between Texas and Alabama.
The Telegraph reported that, as of Monday, Garcia had yet to provide a reason to justify his withdrawal from the Wentworth tournament. Sergio, 42, must provide a valid reason within the next three weeks or he will be fined.
According to the DP World Tour regulations, a player may withdraw only for "emergency reasons or medical circumstances deemed reasonable by the tournament director."
